Idaho 21 stretch closes again for avalanche danger
BOISE - The 12-mile stretch of Idaho 21
between the Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit closed today (Friday, Jan.
14) shortly after 11 a.m. as an avalanche precaution for travelers' safety,
the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Rain is falling on top of the 17 inches
of snow that has accumulated in the area over the last few days, creating a rising
avalanche hazard due to instability.
Crews will re-evaluate the threat in the
morning. However, the forecast calls for more rain and snow Saturday night
through Monday.
