Construction update for eastern Idaho for Oct. 4-11
RIGBY - Here is the eastern Idaho highway construction update for Oct. 4-11:

Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B - Concrete is being poured on the Snake River Bridge deck. Traffic on Interstate 15 south of Idaho Falls continues to be one lane in each direction between mileposts 115 and 117. The speed limit will remain at 55 mph until the project is complete next fall. Idaho Construction of Kimberly is the contractor for the $23 million project.

U.S. 20, Hitt and St. Leon interchanges - Eastern Idaho Railroad is scheduled to work on the overhead signal lights at crossings on Hitt and St. Leon roads. Paving is expected to be done north of Idaho Falls on the U.S. 20 alignment of the new Hitt and St. Leon interchanges. Traffic could be routed onto the northbound lanes by early next week, but the ramps and connector roads will remain closed. Traffic is one lane in both directions with a speed limit of 55 mph. Western Construction of Boise is building the $19 million project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of October. Seal coating will be done next year.

Idaho 33, Canyon Creek Bridge - Concrete is being placed on the end sections of the new bridge deck at Canyon Creek east of Newdale. Excavation continues on the new highway alignment. Sletten Construction of Great Falls, Mont., is scheduled to complete the $4.3 million bridge project this fall, and the new highway alignment will be complete next spring. The speed limit is 45 mph.

Idaho 33, Intersection to 12th West to U.S. 20, near Rexburg - Motorists can expect lane closures and a 25 mph speed limit on Idaho 33 west of Rexburg to 12th West where the highway is being widened to five lanes. A traffic signal and turn lanes will be installed, along with curb and gutter. The $576,000 project is scheduled for completion in late October. The contractor is H-K of Idaho Falls.

Idaho 33, Traffic Signal, Second East and First North - Installation of a new traffic signal is under way at the intersection of Second East and First North in Rexburg. The project is expected to be complete in November. The intersection is closed for construction. Mountain West Electric of Blackfoot is the contractor on the $239,000 project.

Idaho 87, Henry's Lake fish passages - Cannon Builders is diverting traffic onto temporary detour roads on Idaho 87 at Howard and Targhee Creeks west of U.S. 20 north of Henry's Lake.  Pilings for the new bridges have been driven at Targhee and Howard Creeks, and work has begun on realigning and restoring the stream channels.  The $1.82 million project is scheduled for completion in November.
