Westbound I-84 traffic between Broadway and Orchard to change Wednesday night (Feb. 16)
Weather permitting, the Idaho Transportation Department will move westbound through lanes back to the westbound side of I-84 overnight Wednesday (Feb. 16). The traffic shift will be completed in time for commuter traffic early Thursday morning.

Westbound through traffic has been traveling on the eastbound side of
I-84 since August 2010. The Wednesday-night move will allow crews to begin
rebuilding the deteriorated eastbound lanes.
Westbound I-84 will be restricted to one lane from 10 p.m.
to 5 a.m. tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb. 14-16) in preparation for the change.
Project Engineer Dana Weiss said it is the first of
several traffic shifts scheduled this spring.
"We need motorists to slow down, pay attention and watch for
merging traffic over the next few weeks," said Weiss. "The crews will be
working close to traffic, and traffic patterns may seem a little different for
motorists."
Starting Wednesday night, westbound I-84 will have two
through lanes and a third lane for traffic merging onto and and exiting from I-84.
Westbound I-84 will have four through lanes when the
interstate-widening project is completed later this summer.
The Idaho Transportation Department is in charge of all
roads within the state highway system - interstates, state highways and U.S.
routes. All other roads are the responsibility of the local city or county
entity.
