Idaho 21 construction delays today (Thursday, Feb. 17) at Mores Creek Bridge site east of Boise
BOISE COUNTY - Motorists on the Mores Creek Bridge (commonly called the High Bridge) on Idaho 21 over Lucky Peak Reservoir will be delayed significantly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 17) for necessary bridge foundation work, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The work could be delayed in the case of high winds.

Up to 45-minute delays are expected as crews continue work on the pier foundation, and one lane is available over the bridge. Traffic across the bridge is normally controlled by signals at either end, with only one direction allowed to pass through at a time. In addition, a nine-foot width restriction is in effect.

The project to update the bridge began in mid-December 2010. Work on the foundation during the low-water winter period will include a retaining wall, rock anchoring, slope armoring, and seismic retrofit. Portions of the structural steel will be painted along with other repairs on the structure.

Crews are finishing up stabilization at the bridge foundation for this year. The water level rose sooner than normal, so crews will have to complete the foundation work during the next water draw-down period in the fall.

The project will be completely finished in November 2011.

RSCI, of Meridian, is the contractor on the $2.8 million project.
