ConocoPhillips shipment safely completes first segment of trip on U.S. 12

LEWISTON -  The second oversized ConocoPhillips load to travel U.S. 12 completed the first segment of the trip, arriving safely today at a pullout two miles west of Orofino at approximately 4 a.m. (PST).

The load left the Port of Lewiston at about 10 p.m. (PST) Thursday, crossed the Arrow Bridge and successfully navigated a 39-mile stretch of U.S. 12. No traffic delays exceeding the allowed 15 minutes were reported. The load brushed two highway light poles. ITD staff will inspect the poles today as a safety precaution.

Off-duty patrol officers from the Idaho State Police and Idaho Transportation Department crews accompanied the oversized load to ensure safe travel and minimize impacts on motorists. Emergency medical personnel and pilot vehicles also accompanied the load.

The shipment will resume tonight at 10 weather permitting,  and travel from west of Orofino to five miles west of Kamiah.

ConocoPhillips established a toll-free information line, updated daily at noon, for reports on the shipment. The number is (866) 535-0138.

Motorists also can check ITD's website, itd.idaho.gov, the state's traveler service website, 511.idaho.gov, or dial 5-1-1 for information.
