Imperial Oil/ExxonMobil receives extension on moving oversized test load on U.S. 12
BOISE - An Imperial Oil/ExxonMobil oversized test load scheduled to travel on U.S. 12 today will be delayed until March 7, after the company requested and received an extension from the Idaho Transportation Department.
A permit was issued last week by the transportation department for a test load to travel U.S. 12 from the Lewiston Port to the Montana border. The department also began a contested case hearing process to allow opponents of the shipments to present evidence and testimony on the estimated 200 additional loads proposed by Imperial Oil/ExxonMobil to travel the highway.
The equipment needed to transport the module cannot arrive in Lewiston until early March, the company stated in a letter to ITD Division of Motor Vehicles Administrator Alan Frew.
