ConocoPhillips oversized load delayed additional day by weather
KOOSKIA
- The oversized ConocoPhillips load making its way toward Montana on U.S. 12
will not embark on the next leg of its trip Tuesday night because of snow, the
Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The
load left the Port of Lewiston on Thursday, shortly after 10 p.m. From Thursday
night into Friday morning, it traveled to the Orofino area. On Friday after 10
p.m., it left the Orofino area and reached Kooskia on Saturday morning.
Off-duty patrol officers from the Idaho State Police and
Idaho Transportation Department crews accompanied the oversized load to ensure
safe travel and minimize impacts on motorists. Emergency medical personnel and
pilot vehicles also accompanied the load. ConocoPhillips has a total of four
shipments. Each one is required to move between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30
a.m.
Emmert International is transporting the load to a
ConocoPhillips refinery in Billings, Mont.
ConocoPhillips established a toll-free information line,
updated daily at noon, for reports on the shipment. The number is (866)
535-0138.
