Left-turn movements restricted at U.S. 95 and Lancaster for installation of traffic signals at intersection
Editors/News
Directors: Please note the change of
date for the median closure at U.S. 95/Lancaster Road. Work has been delayed one week due to weather
and material availability.
Work requiring the left-turn restrictions is expected
to take about one week to complete. When the span over the median is in place,
the median will be reopened. Daily closures will occur as work progresses
to install the U.S. 95 spans. The median will reopen at night.
Boekel Road is the designated detour route. Right turns
onto Lancaster and onto U.S. 95 will be permitted.
Once installation is complete, the signal heads will be
covered and will not become operational until the final layer of pavement and
pavement striping are completed later this spring.
The contractor for this $6 million project is Interstate
Concrete and Asphalt, of Coeur d'Alene. Signal and intersection work is part of
a project to widen U.S. 95 between Wyoming Avenue and the Idaho 53 junction
south of Garwood. Funding is provided through savings from other American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (federal stimulus) projects that were bid in
2010.
ITD
and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention
when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
