ConocoPhillips equipment shipment safely reaches Idaho/Montana border
POWELL - The oversized ConocoPhillips load traveling on U.S. 12 safely reached the Idaho/Montana border late Sunday night, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.


The shipment left milepost 169 on Sunday at 10:05 p.m. (PST). It stopped on the Idaho side of Lolo Pass at about 11 p.m. to prepare for entry into Montana. The load crossed into Montana at 12:24 a.m. (MST).

 

Off-duty patrol officers from the Idaho State Police and crews from the Idaho Transportation Department accompanied the load in Idaho to ensure safe travel and minimize impacts on motorists. Emergency medical personnel and pilot vehicles also accompanied the load.

 

It is the second of four ConocoPhillips equipment shipments traveling to a company refinery in Billings, Mont. Emmert International of Clackamas, Ore., is transporting the loads.

 

The third and fourth shipments will not leave from the Port of Lewiston for about a month. The transport trucks hauling the first two shipments will need to reach Billings and have the equipment removed before returning to Lewiston for the third and fourth shipments.

 

In Idaho, each shipment is required to move between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
