I-86 construction from I-84 junction to Raft River may begin Monday
BURLEY - A 15-mile pavement resurfacing project on Interstate 86 from the Interstate 84 junction to the Raft River interchange will begin as soon as Monday (March 28), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Weather permitting, eastbound traffic will be shifted onto the westbound lanes beginning Sunday in a two-lane, two-way configuration.
Throughout the construction zone, a 65 mph speed limit will be in effect and a 14-foot width restriction will be enforced. Small portions of the I-86 westbound lanes and I-84 near the junction will be improved as part of the contract.
Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise, is the contractor for the $11 million repaving project. The project is expected to be completed in July. The westbound lanes of I-86 from the I-84 junction to the Raft River interchange is scheduled for a paving project in 2013.
