Orchard repairs, pedestrian ramp replacements start Monday
BOISE - Orchard Street will undergo pavement and pedestrian ramp repairs beginning Monday morning (March 28), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will saw-cut and remove three concrete slabs in the northbound left-hand turn lanes starting at 9 a.m. Monday and progressing through Friday (April 1) at 3:30 p.m. The slabs are cracked near the joints and will soon break if not repaired.
The work will require the closure of the left northbound, left-hand turn lane onto westbound I-84 and the left southbound left-hand turn lane onto eastbound I-84 between the east- and westbound ramps on Orchard Street. The northbound Orchard Street right-hand turn lane onto eastbound Wright Street will also be closed - traffic will still be able to turn east around the closed lane, however.
Also starting on Monday, work will begin to replace pedestrian ramps at the southwest corner of Orchard Street and Victory Road, and at Orchard Street and the westbound off-ramp from I-84. These two ramps are not compliant with all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Standards.
This will require a closure of the eastbound Victory Road right-hand turn lane onto southbound Orchard Street and closure of the inside left-hand turn lane from the I-84 westbound off-ramp.
This pedestrian ramp work will be completed by April 15.
