Washington Street construction restarting
TWIN FALLS - If spring-like temperatures remain, drivers can expect construction activities to resume on North Washington Street, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Resumption of work has been delayed since the beginning of March due to wet conditions. Work will be scheduled over the next few weeks as weather allows.

When work resumes, drivers are reminded to watch for lane closures and restrictions throughout the construction zone between Filer Avenue and Cheney Drive. Lane closures are planned for southbound Washington Street and on Falls Avenue east of Washington. Crews are beginning work on the west side of Washington Street south with sidewalk, street lighting and landscaping activities. Construction activities will extend to North College Drive with median and landscaping work.

Drivers are reminded to use caution through the construction zone, watch for changing lane alignments, and uneven pavement between Filer and Falls avenues.

Much of the construction was completed in 2010 and is expected to be complete by midsummer. When complete, the new roadway will include a storm water drainage system, center median with left turn bays, new sidewalk, illumination and traffic signals between Wirshing Avenue and Cheney Drive.

DEBCO Construction, of Orofino, is the contractor for the federally funded, $6.5 million project sponsored by the city of Twin Falls and administered by ITD.
