U.S. 93 Twin Falls Alternate Route Stage 1 continues with utility work at Blue Lakes Boulevard/Pole Line Road
SHOSHONE - Utility companies will relocate equipment at the intersection of Blue Lakes Boulevard and Pole Line Road on Tuesday (Oct. 18) as part of the U.S. 93 Twin Falls Alternate Route project, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. This is part of the preparation work for the section of the route from just west of Washington Street to the end of the project at Blue Lakes Boulevard.

Motorists can expect occasional 5-10 minute delays while flaggers direct one-way traffic through the work zone. Crews will work from mid-morning to early afternoon.  The relocation work is expected to take one day.

The Twin Falls Alternate Route is being done as two projects. Stage 1 begins in the rural section just west of Grandview Drive and consists of four lanes (two travel lanes in each direction) with a depressed median ending just west of Washington Street.  From just west of Washington Street to the end of the project at Blue Lakes Boulevard, the route includes six-lanes (three travel lanes in each direction) with a raised, landscaped median.

Stage 1 is expected to be complete in the 2006 construction season.

Stage 2, from the U.S.30/U.S. 93 Junction to just west of Grandview Drive, is expected to begin upon the completion of Stage 1, depending on funding and design completion.

Western Construction of Boise is the contractor for the $18.8 million Stage 1.
