Construction on Salmon River Bridge approaches on U.S. 93 planned next week
RIGBY - Construction on approaches to the Salmon River Bridge on U.S. 93 in Salmon could occur as early as Monday (April 18) if weather allows, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The project will take up to five days to complete.
Crews will resurface approaches between Terrace Street and Courthouse Drive.
During construction, motorists can expect delays as travel will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing drivers through the work zone.
Drivers are advised to watch for construction workers and equipment. In addition, obeying traffic signs helps increase safety at the construction site.
The Salmon River Bridge maintenance project, which started last year, consists of resurfacing the deck, replacing the sidewalk, installing railing on the south side of the bridge and resurfacing approaches. Later this spring, a pedestrian rail will be installed between the sidewalk and bridge deck and a 42-inch-high fence installed on the edge of the bridge.
Maintenance work is designed to improve traffic safety, riding comfort and extend the life of the bridge deck and roadway. Replacing the sidewalk and extending the railing also will enhance pedestrian safety.
