Lane restrictions, traffic shifts ahead this week on westbound I-84 between Broadway and Cole
BOISE - Traffic will be shifted and lanes will be restricted on westbound I-84 this week between the Broadway and Cole interchanges, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The Vista and Orchard westbound off-ramps will be adjusted slightly as crews re-stripe the roadway to accommodate two new lanes. The new lanes are expected to open later this month if weather permits. Crews need dry pavement and temperatures above 40 degrees in order to maximize the paint's adhesion to the roadway.
At least two lanes will be open during the day and one lane will be open at night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
ITD began widening the interstate from two to four lanes in both directions in the fall of 2009. The new lanes begin at the Broadway Interchange and continue to the Cole/Overland Interchange, where the interstate already has four lanes in both directions.
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2011. The speed limit will be 55 mph on east- and westbound I-84 in the project area until construction is completed.
Concrete Placing Company of Boise is the contractor for the I-84, Cole to Broadway widening project.
