ExxonMobil test shipment will resume travel next week

BOISE - An ExxonMobil test shipment will be postponed until early next week to continue an examination of power line clearance along U.S. 12, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The shipment was scheduled to resume moving early Thursday morning, but was postponed to evaluate the clearance of an Idaho County Power and Light power line that is between milepost 61 and Kooskia. ExxonMobil is evaluating how to safely travel under the line.

Power lines near the Nez Perce Tribal Casino, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Clear Creek Fish Hatchery are being raised to allow the loads to travel under them. This will allow power to continue to be transmitted through the lines.

The test shipment is tentatively scheduled to resume travel early next week.

The test load is 24 feet wide, 30 feet high, 208 feet long and weighs approximately 508,000 pounds. It is permitted to travel only between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Traffic delays are limited to no longer than 15 minutes. The load will be accompanied by the Idaho State Police.
