ExxonMobil test shipment resumes travel tonight

BOISE - An Imperial Oil/ExxonMobil over-sized test load will resume travel tonight on U.S. 12, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The test shipment is scheduled to leave from milepost 61 at 10 p.m., and travel to milepost 139.

The over-sized test load left the Port of Lewiston on April 11. During the drive, it hit a guy wire strung across the highway at milepost 47. The guy wire came loose, was flung over a nearby power line and caused a power outage.

The transport stayed at milepost 61 while the transportation department, ExxonMobil and Mammoet worked on ensuring the load has adequate clearance. Mammoet is the contract hauler hired by ExxonMobil to move the test shipment.

Sixteen utility lines are being raised to improve the clearance from milepost 61 to the Montana border. No power outages will occur.
