Idaho 46 paving project begins Tuesday
GOODING - A full-width asphalt overlay on Idaho 46 for about 12 miles beginning on the north end of Gooding is expected to start on Tuesday (May 3), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Drivers can expect delays as the construction crew begins to mill portions of asphalt throughout the project limits and prepare for paving. Paving is expected to begin on May 9 and last for about two weeks. Paving of the roadway will begin at the railroad crossing in Gooding and extend north to Schooler Creek.

Crews will return in mid-June to complete a seal coat over the new asphalt. The entire project is expected to be complete by July 1.

Drivers are urged to be cautious when approaching the work zone and watch for flaggers. A pilot car will be used during work hours to lead traffic around the milling and paving operations. Watch for a 45 mph speed limit and increase following distances to avoid cracked windshields from loose gravel.

Western Construction, Inc., of Boise, is the contractor on the $2.1 million pavement preservation project.
