Public input sought on the Blue Lakes North Corridor Project
SHOSHONE - Safety improvement alternatives for the Blue Lakes North Corridor Project will be discussed at an open house meeting Wednesday, Nov. 2, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The open house will be held in Twin Falls at the College of Southern Idaho, 315 Falls Ave. in the Taylor Administration Building, Room 276, 4 - 7 p.m.  It will provide area residents an opportunity to learn about the project and give input on a range of safety improvements for Blue Lakes Boulevard from Falls Avenue to Poleline Road.

The City of Twin Falls and the transportation department are working together to determine what roadway improvements, if any, should be added to ITD's planned resurfacing and drainage improvements. Alternatives include consolidated driveways, right-out restrictions, raised medians, U-turns, acceleration and deceleration lanes and increased law enforcement. Final improvements are intended to address the city's goal of reducing accidents by at least 10 percent and meeting roadway and user needs for the next 20 years.

Citizens will also be able to provide input about the project in the upcoming Twin Falls Community survey. The annual survey is mailed to approximately 3,000 Twin Falls residents and asks for thoughts about city utilities and streets.

Following these information-gathering activities, a summary will be compiled for city council members who will make the final decision on roadway configuration.
