Lanes restricted tonight at Commercial Street off Eagle Road
MERIDIAN - Lanes will be restricted overnight tonight (Thursday, May 19) at Commercial Street where it intersects with Eagle Road. Crews will be installing stop bars in conjunction with the "Do Not Block Intersection" signs at that location.
In contrast to painting the stop bars, the installation involves melting a thermoplastic mix, that includes glass beads for reflectivity, onto the road surface. It is thicker and lasts longer than a painted surface. The thermoplastic comes in precut pieces that fit together in the exact size and shape needed.
From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., one lane in each direction (north- and southbound) will be closed, leaving one lane in each direction open for drivers.
This is the last of the work on the Eagle Road overlay project, that began last summer, from the I-84 eastbound ramps to Fairview Avenue. The contractor needed to wait for favorable weather conditions and crews to become available from other projects to complete this installation.
