Work begins to add turn lanes on Idaho 5 at Benewah Creek Road
COEUR D'ALENE - Work began this week on a project to add turn lanes on Idaho 5 at Benewah Creek Road near St. Maries, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project will also realign Benewah Creek Road with the highway.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
Motorists can expect delays due to occasional lane closures throughout the project timeline. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph.
Flaggers will guide one-lane, one-way traffic through the work zone area when lane closures occur.
Contractor's crews will be working Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
The public is invited to attend weekly project update meetings on-site at the contractor's trailer at milepost 12.8. The meetings will be held every Thursday at 9 a.m.
West Company Inc., of Airway Heights, Wash., is the contractor for this $462,000 project.
