Blasting operations Tuesday (June 7) to delay I-90 traffic at Pinehurst exit in the Silver Valley

COEUR D’ALENE – Blasting near Interstate 90 at the North Division Street exit at Pinehurst will cause delays to interstate traffic tomorrow (Tuesday, June 7), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Local traffic, bicyclists and pedestrians also will be affected.

Work is expected to be completed later this summer.

The eastbound on-ramp at North Division Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The eastbound off-ramp will remain open until actual blasting occurs.

To ensure the safety of the traveling public when the charges are set off, motorists can expect to be stopped on I-90, local roads and the bike path - creating about a 15-minute delay.

The blasting is part of a project to rehabilitate the interstate roadway surface from Pinehurst to Elizabeth Park. The roadway material created by the blasting will be used in the asphalt overlay.

Roadway resurfacing projects prolong the life of the road and increase safety for motorists.

Knife River, of Post Falls, is the contractor for this $4.15 million project.
