Lane closures at Fifth Street in Burley for concrete repairs
BURLEY – Construction crews will be returning to the North Overland project beginning on Monday (June 20) to complete repairs and reconstruct the pedestrian island at the intersection of Overland Avenue and Fifth Street, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The work will consist of widening the west-to-northbound right turn area as well as completing repairs to the sidewalk and pedestrian island on the northeast corner of the intersection. The work will require the closure of one northbound lane, the westbound lane and the turn lane.
After completion of the $3.13 million North Overland reconstruction between the Snake River and Interstate 84, it was discovered the turn lane was inadequately designed to accommodate truck traffic, and was subsequently redesigned.
Drivers are reminded to follow all temporary traffic control devices throughout the construction zone. Drivers should watch for hazards and be cautious of workers and equipment at all times.
The repairs are being undertaken as a change order to the original contract with Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise. The repairs are expected to be complete within two weeks.
