Paving, bridge preservation project on I-84 begins Monday
TWIN FALLS – A pavement and bridge resurfacing project on Interstate 84 from the Idaho 50 junction near Twin Falls to the Burley interchange is expected to begin on Monday (June 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will begin on Monday with bridge deck repairs at the Northside and Milner-Gooding Canal bridges east of the Ridgeway Road interchange. Crews also will patch the highway in several locations beginning Monday. The tasks will take about a week to complete.
The contractor is expected to begin a full-width asphalt overlay of I-84 after the July 4 holiday weekend. Work is expected to be complete by mid-August.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the construction zone. A 45-mph speed limit will be in effect, and a 14-foot width restriction will be enforced. The 26-mile overlay project will be divided into eight-mile sections.
Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise, is the contractor for the $7.8 million project.
