Demolition house burn near Idaho 44 and Idaho 16 scheduled for Wednesday

BOISE – The Idaho Transportation Department is advising motorists there will be a demolition house burn near the intersection of Idaho 44 and Idaho 16 on Wednesday (June 29) from 9 a.m. to noon.

The demolition burn will be done by the Star Fire Department and is part of preparations for the construction of the Idaho 16, U.S. 20-26 to Idaho 44 extension. The demolition burn will not restrict traffic. However, there may be smoke in the vicinity of the intersection of Idaho 44 and Idaho 16.

The Idaho 16 extension project will consist of a four-lane divided highway that connects Idaho 16 to Interstate 84. The project includes a new bridge over the Boise River, south of Idaho 44.

Construction of the section between U.S. 20-26 and Idaho 44, including the bridge over the Boise River, will begin later this year or in early 2012. Funding for the entire connection to I-84 has not been allotted at this time.
