Pedestrian curb ramp draft plan available for public comment
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department seeks comments on a draft transition plan to build pedestrian curb ramps along state highways and improve existing ramps.
The draft plan, required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), identifies and prioritizes needed improvements along state highways across Idaho. As part of that effort, the transportation department held public meetings in 2009 and 2010 to gather comments on how priorities should be set for future curb ramp improvements. In addition, the department completed a statewide inventory to document locations in need of sidewalk or curb ramps to comply with ADA standards.
Locations with no curb ramp where a sidewalk or pedestrian path exists will be the first priority, followed by existing ramps that are the most out of compliance.
