UPDATE: Tonight’s eastbound I-84 closure will affect Broadway off-ramp
BOISE – Eastbound Interstate 84 and the Orchard and Broadway eastbound off-ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. tonight (June 30) to 5 a.m. Friday (July 1) while the Idaho Transportation Department installs signs over I-84.
The closures are the last in a series of I-84 closures this week.
The Broadway eastbound off-ramp is being closed tonight because lightning on Tuesday night prevented the lights from being installed on the sign.
- Motorists going east on I-84 will be directed to exit at Cole/Overland and follow local roads to Orchard Street, where they can re-enter I-84.
- After re-entering I-84, motorists who want to exit at the Broadway eastbound off-ramp will be directed to exit at the Gowen Interchange, where they can turn around and access Broadway from westbound I-84.
- Motorists may access the Orchard eastbound on-ramp all night, but flaggers will direct traffic between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
A detour map is available here. Motorists are encouraged to call 5-1-1 or check 511.idaho.gov for updates and leave early to reach their destinations on time.
The Broadway off-ramp closure was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but lightning prevented crews from installing lights on the new sign.
All westbound ramps will remain open.
ITD is widening I-84 to four lanes in both directions between Cole/Overland and Broadway. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.
