Overnight restrictions tonight and Saturday night in Franklin to Garrity portion of westbound I-84

NAMPA - Westbound motorists on Interstate 84 widening between the Franklin Boulevard and Garrity Boulevard interchanges in Nampa can expect nighttime lane reductions tonight (Friday) and Saturday (July 15 and 16). Westbound I-84 will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night to allow crews to safely move paving equipment.

Also under way is excavation at the eastbound Garrity off-ramp. Paving of the ramp area is anticipated for late summer. This ramp, and the Garrity westbound on-ramp are both part of the larger construction project between Franklin and Garrity.

Crews continue building abutment and retaining walls at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) bridge. Construction of two new bridges over the UPRR and Phyllis Canal will accommodate the additional lanes on I-84.

Motorists can expect ongoing, intermittent nighttime lane closures for both east- and westbound traffic as crews work to complete the project by early summer 2012. All I-84 lanes remain open during the day, and work may be weather dependent.

Concrete Placing Company, of Boise, is the contractor on this $22.2 million project.
