Seal-coat project planned on Idaho 7 and U.S. 12 near Orofino

LEWISTON – A seal-coat project scheduled to begin Tuesday (Aug. 2) will cause minor delays for motorists on Idaho 7 northwest of Orofino and on U.S. 12 between Orofino and Kamiah, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Approximately four miles of Idaho 7, from Orofino to Ahsahka (mileposts 49-53), will begin Tuesday morning (Aug. 2).  A companion 22.5-mile project will be done concurrently on U.S. 12 between mileposts 43 and 66, beginning at Orofino.

Granite Northwest Inc., of Yakima, Wash., will work around the clock, with occasional breaks, and expects to finish both segments by Friday (Aug. 5).

Motorists traveling on both routes should expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. To minimize the risk of windshield damage, the speed limit in both work areas will be reduced to 35 mph. Drivers are advised to adhere to the speed limit and follow the directions of flaggers.

Cost of the project is $732,000.
