U.S. 12 paving to begin Monday (Aug. 1)
LEWISTON - A 6.5-mile resurfacing project will begin Monday (Aug. 1) on U.S. 12 from the Post Office Creek Bridge and Warm Springs Pack Bridge, approximately 48 miles east of Lowell, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The existing surface will be ground (milled) off and a layer of asphalt will be applied, followed by a seal coat. The project also will replace 4,750 feet of guardrail.

Work will be done between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. Pilot cars and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone during the day, and both lanes will be open to traffic during non-work hours. Traffic will travel on a milled surface until final paving.

Valley Paving and Asphalt, of Cottonwood, is the contractor for the $2.1 million project. The project should be competed by late September.
