Installation of Golf Course Road traffic signal begins today (Monday, Aug. 1)

JEROME – Following a month-long delay while key components of the project where shipped to the site, the construction of a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 93 and Golf Course Road is beginning today (Monday, Aug. 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Work is expected to be complete by early September.

Crews will be working primarily in the median and on the shoulders of the roadway during the early stages of construction, which will include constructing concrete foundations for the poles. Crews will be excavating and setting foundations for the traffic signal poles before installation of the poles begins. The new signal poles will be mounted in the median and light poles will be installed on the shoulders of the intersection.

Work will impact traffic at times with the addition of a northbound turn lane and widening of Golf Course Road to allow for the additional turning traffic. The contractor will perform much of the road work at night. Roadway base construction was started this spring by the Jerome Highway District to accommodate the widening and is ready for the paving operation to begin.

Drivers should be prepared for lane restrictions and short delays during work hours throughout the construction zone. Drivers should use caution through the work zone and be mindful of workers and equipment.

Gordon Paving, Inc., of Twin Falls, is the contractor for the $985,000 federally funded project.
