I-84 speed limit will return to 65 mph in Boise Thursday morning
BOISE – The speed limit on Interstate 84 will return to normal Thursday morning (Aug. 4) in Boise from the Cole/Overland Interchange to Broadway Interchange. The Idaho Transportation Department will raise the speed limit to 65 mph for the first time since construction began on that stretch in late 2009.
The change is expected to happen at 5 a.m. Thursday.
Construction should be completed in September 2011. ITD reconstructed the aging pavement, widened the interstate from two to four lanes and added a drainage system under the interstate.
Occasional speed limit reductions and lane restrictions will be scheduled during project clean-up activities. Interstate closures will be scheduled in September when the final sign bridges are installed.
Concrete Placing Co., of Boise, is the contractor.
