Seal coating between Paul and Rupert begins next week
RUPERT – With the full-width asphalt overlay on Idaho 25 completed, crews will work on a chip-seal coat between the cities of Paul and Rupert beginning Monday (Aug. 15), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Paving was completed this week on the main highway and crews are working to finish paving business and residential approaches. Crews will begin the seal-coat portion of the project on the approaches beginning Monday and move onto the highway beginning Wednesday (Aug. 17).
Following posted speed limits and increasing following distance will reduce the risk of windshield damage caused by loose gravel. Crews will complete sweeping of the excess gravel on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 20-21), followed by final striping of the roadway.
Drivers are urged to be careful when approaching the work zone and watch for flaggers. There will be a reduced speed limit of 45 mph through the work zone during non-work hours.
Idaho Sand and Gravel, of Jerome, is the contractor for the $2.7 million pavement preservation project. All work is expected to be complete by the end of August.
