Resurfacing of Idaho 33 between Hatches Corner and the Wyoming state line starts Thursday (Aug. 18)

RIGBY - Resurfacing of Idaho 33 between Hatches Corner, south of Tetonia, and the Wyoming state line starts Thursday (Aug. 18), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will repave 21 miles of Idaho 33, grinding and removing about an inch of pavement and replacing it with one and one-half inches of asphalt blended with rock chips. The project is scheduled for completion this fall, except for a seal coat planned next summer.

Travel will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles per hour. Drivers can expect delays.

Commercial vehicles will be restricted to 14 feet in width through the work zones.

The transportation department awarded HK Contractors Inc., of Idaho Falls, the $3.9 million contract. HK will coordinate work with other highway construction projects on Idaho 33 in Teton Valley this year.

Motorists should obey all traffic signs and watch for construction workers and equipment.
