Night work on U.S. 30 in Buhl to install pavement markings

BUHL – Crews will perform nighttime work installing durable pavement markings on U.S. 30 through the city of Buhl on Saturday (Aug. 20), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will work for one night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to install durable, long-lasting pavement markings to replace the existing paint striping. Broadway Avenue, in Buhl, was selected for the durable markings because traditional paint markings don't last as long because of high traffic volumes.

Work will include milling into the existing surface and placing recessed markings on U.S. 30 from the intersection of Sawtooth Blvd./Fruitland Ave. to the intersection of Burley Ave./Clear Lake Road (Idaho 46). The milling process will create high noise levels, but nighttime work is being employed to avoid higher traffic volumes.

One lane will be closed while crews are working. Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared for delays up to 10 minutes.

Specialized Pavement Markings, of Tualatin, Ore., is the contractor for the $155,000 road-marking project. The project is scheduled to be completed in one night.
