Wildfire closes Idaho 33 west of Mud Lake

RIGBY - A wildfire has closed a 19-mile section of Idaho 33 between its junction with Idaho 22 and Idaho 28, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews from the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Fire Department and Bureau of Land Management are battling the fire that has burned 35,858 acres of brush and grass west of Mud Lake.

No estimate is available for reopening the highway.

Traffic is being detoured around the closed stretch of Idaho 33 on Idaho 22 and Idaho 28.

Fire agency officials urge motorists traveling throughout Idaho to use extreme caution because high temperatures and low humidity are increasing the potential for wildfires.
