Nickel Bros equipment shipments delayed by additional day each
BOISE - Two over-legal loads that originally were scheduled to move on U.S. 12 Monday and Tuesday have been delayed by an additional day each, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The first load will enter on Idaho 128 from the Port of Wilma at about 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 31). It originally was scheduled to enter Idaho on Monday. It will connect with U.S. 12 and continue eastbound to Montana. The load is 17.7 feet high, 14 feet wide and 118 feet long, and weighs 200,478 pounds. Traffic delays are not anticipated.
The second shipment is scheduled to arrive in Idaho north of Lewiston on Thursday, (Sept. 1) shortly after 3 a.m. It originally was scheduled to enter Idaho on Tuesday. It also will enter on Idaho 128 from Washington, connect with U.S. 12 and continue to the Idaho-Montana state line. It is 19 feet high, 14.6 feet wide, 234 feet long and weighs 433,282 pounds. Because of its length, traffic delays might be required while the shipment navigates curves on the highway. Delays will be limited to 15 minutes or less.
The shipments are scheduled to take one day to travel from the Port of Wilma to the Idaho/Montana state line. Each transport will be accompanied by two pilot vehicles in the front and one behind.
Nickel Bros will haul the equipment from the Port of Wilma in Clarkston, Wash., to a Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. The equipment will be used in a high-efficiency evaporator plant that is designed to reduce greenhouse gases and generate electricity from steam.
