UPDATE: Wreckage of airplane spotted by air
STANLEY – The wreckage of a small plane was sighted at about 4:30 p.m. today west of Stanley in an area where air and ground crews were searching for a missing Cessna 182.
An air search team indicated the plane was lodged in the top of a tree.
Custer County ground search and rescue teams hope to reach the location before dark to determine whether the plane is the one missing on a Monday night flight from Salmon to Caldwell.
The overdue aircraft disappeared from radar shortly before midnight today.
