Learn more about construction contract details for free
BOISE - Sometimes the small details in a construction contract can lead to big and costly problems, so the Idaho Transportation Department is presenting a daylong course that examines key contract provisions to consider when securing a construction contract.
The course is free to the public and will be held Thursday (Sept. 29) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in ITD’s East Annex at 3292 Jordan St. in Boise. It is sponsored by ITD’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program Supportive Services.
Attorney Wendy T. Wendrowski will talk about important construction contract and subcontract provisions to help deal with project changes, differing site conditions and time delays. Attendees also may get help understanding payment obligations, liquidated damages and indemnification obligations. Sample contract provisions will be provided and discussed.
Key ITD specifications not included in American Institute of Architects (AIA) contract forms also will be discussed.
Wendrowski has been practicing law since 1991, specializing in complex business and commercial litigation, with an emphasis in construction litigation. She has prosecuted and defended construction defect claims and claims of violation of federal and state False Claims acts.
She also has been involved with construction disputes regarding back-charges, change orders, defective work, defective plans and specifications, and delay.
The course is one of six that ITD will offer free to the public through November about construction contracting and contracts.
