Shoulder, driveway approach work begins on Idaho 21 from Robie Creek to Idaho City

BOISE COUNTY - Work started today (Wednesday, Oct. 26) on the shoulders of a 17-mile stretch of Idaho 21 between Robie Creek and Idaho City, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The project includes paving and lengthening driveway approaches in that section.

This summer, that same stretch of highway was repaved. A thin-lift overlay of 1.8 inches of new pavement to extend the life of the pavement and restore the driving surface for a smoother ride was added from milepost 22 to 39.

Crews will work an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday schedule between now and mid-December to finish the work. They are proceeding north toward Idaho City from the south end of the project at Robie Creek.

Traffic is being directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Speed limit reductions will be in effect.

Central Paving Co. Inc., of Boise, is the contractor on the $2.1 million project.
