UPDATE: Hard rock moves I-84 westbound Garrity Boulevard on-ramp closure to tonight
NAMPA – Due to harder-than-expected rock that slowed drilling operations last night, the closure of the Interstate 84 westbound on-ramp at Garrity Boulevard will take place starting at 10 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 30). The closure will continue for several hours, allowing crews to safely complete installation of light-pole bases.
Crews
also will apply permanent striping to the on- and off-ramps in the I-84
Franklin-Garrity project area in the coming weeks. That work is
temperature-dependent and is planned during daytime hours. Traffic will
be shifted around the work zone when the striping occurs. Motorists are
advised to use extra caution in the confined work areas.
The ramp
work is part of the I-84 Franklin to Garrity widening project.
Motorists might experience intermittent nighttime lane reductions on
this stretch of interstate. All lanes remain open during the day, and
work might be weather dependent.
Once these interstate
improvements are complete, I-84 between Franklin and Garrity will be
widened to three lanes in each direction, with an additional auxiliary
lane for eastbound traffic. The auxiliary lane will allow motorists to
enter I-84 at Franklin, remain in the far right lane, and exit at
Garrity - never having to merge with interstate through traffic.
Concrete Placing Company, of Boise, is the contractor on this $22.2 million project.
