New traffic pattern, speed limits go into effect tomorrow night on I-84 between Boise and Mountain Home
BOISE - Traffic impacts on the I-84 project between Boise and Mountain Home are finishing about a week early, as eastbound traffic will be switched back over to the eastbound side of the freeway tomorrow night (Wednesday, Dec. 7).
Traffic had been diverted to the westbound side of I-84, with drivers in a single lane each way, for several months. Traffic was switched over so that crews could complete repairs. Now that the repairs are finished, traffic is switching back over.
There will still be some impacts:
* From the beginning of the project (milepost 70) to just east of the Orchard/Mayfield Interchange (Stage Stop) there will just be one single lane of travel.
* From there to just west of the Simco Interchange will be two lanes.
* Going under the Simco Interchange will be one lane.
* These areas will have a 55 mph speed limit.
* From just east of the Simco Interchange to the end of the project (milepost 82) will be two lanes and a speed limit of 65 mph.
A few weeks of work remain on the project, primarily to ensure proper highway drainage and guardrail installation.
Concrete Placing Co., of Boise, is the contractor on this $10.4 million project.
