I-84 westbound Franklin Boulevard off-ramp in Nampa to close Thursday (Dec. 8) for shoulder work

NAMPA – Tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 8), the Interstate 84 westbound off-ramp at Nampa’s Franklin Boulevard will close from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This closure will allow crews to grind the concrete shoulder adjacent to the ramp in preparation for final paving. The ramp is too narrow to safely accommodate crews and moving traffic in a confined work zone. Daytime work is required so that the water necessary to operate the grinder does not freeze.

The ramp work is part of the I-84 Franklin to Garrity widening project. Motorists may experience intermittent nighttime lane reductions on this stretch of interstate. All I-84 lanes remain open during the day, and all work may be weather dependent.

Once these interstate improvements are complete, I-84 between Franklin and Garrity will be widened to three lanes in each direction, with an additional auxiliary lane for eastbound traffic. The auxiliary lane will allow motorists to enter I-84 at Franklin, remain in the farthest right lane, and exit at Garrity - never having to merge with interstate traffic.

Concrete Placing Company, of Boise, is the contractor on this $22.2 million project.
