Garrity eastbound off-ramp from I-84 will close for several hours Tuesday night

NAMPA - On Tuesday night (Jan. 17), the eastbound off-ramp from Interstate 84 at Nampa's Garrity Boulevard interchange will close for several hours beginning at 10 p.m. The closure allows crews to safely work on overhead signs in a confined area.

Motorists can expect ongoing intermittent day and night-time lane reductions as crews complete installation of overhead signs and painting of pavement markings between the Garrity and Franklin Boulevard interchanges. Overhead sign work is planned to be completed by mid-week.

Other construction activity includes installing permanent guardrail and roadside signs.

The I-84 eastbound on-ramp at Franklin remains closed. The permanent on-ramp will extend on a new bridge over the Phyllis Canal and provide for a longer merging distance with I-84 traffic. Crews have recently completed important concrete pours, which are now curing. Additional bridge joint and final construction tasks remain on the bridge.

The interstate widening project is on track to be substantially complete by Jan. 31, when the Franklin eastbound on-ramp will reopen and all I-84 lanes will be open. Motorists may later see additional construction activity, including minor clean-up and utility work along the shoulder.

Concrete Placing Company, of Boise, is the contractor on this $22.2 million project.

Once these interstate improvements are complete, I-84 between Franklin and Garrity will be widened to three lanes in each direction, with an additional auxiliary lane for eastbound traffic. The auxiliary lane will allow motorists to enter I-84 at Franklin, remain in the farthest right lane, and exit at Garrity - never having to merge with interstate traffic.
