Lapwai Bridges construction to resume Monday (March 5)

LEWISTON - Construction will resume Monday (March 5) on the Lapwai Creek Bridges project south of Lewiston after a work shutdown over the winter.

The project on U.S. 95 between mileposts 286 and 290 (about 23 miles south of Lewiston) includes new approach slabs on the first half of the four northern structures, raising the road grade between several of the bridges and constructing the second half of all seven structures.

Until the project is completed, Wadsworth Brothers Construction of Draper, Utah, will work an alternating schedule of eight 10-hour days, followed by a six-day break. Construction will take place between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Flaggers will assist traffic through the construction area, but flagging operations will change locations as needed. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone, and drivers should expect delays of 15 to 25 minutes during construction.

The $8.9 million project includes replacement of existing multi-span structures with wider, simple-span bridges. Construction began in June 2011 and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013.
