Reconstruction of Jerome County canal crossing begins today
JEROME – Beginning today (Monday, March 12), work to replace an Idaho 25 structure over the X Canal in rural Jerome County will restrict traffic to one lane for the next two months, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will begin replacing the existing culvert with a 73-foot pre-cast concrete culvert. The existing structure housing the X Canal crossing is narrow and presents a safety hazard should traffic leave the roadway.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and temporary traffic signals will be posted at each end of the construction zone as demolition and construction extends through the spring months. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph during the work, and the width will be restricted to 11 feet 6 inches.
The crossing is located at milepost 18.3 near the Idaho 50 junction and about three miles west of Eden.
Braun-Jensen Inc., of Payette, is the contractor for the $247,000 culvert replacement project. According to the contractor’s schedule, the work is expected to be completed by mid-May.
