Governor Otter to host signing ceremony for reciprocity agreement with Republic of Korea

BOISE - Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter will host the signing of a memorandum making it easier for Idahoans living in Korea and Koreans living in Idaho to obtain driver's licenses.

The agreement will be signed by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Young Wan Song, and Idaho Transportation Department Motor Vehicle Administrator Alan Frew, on Wednesday (March 21), at 2 p.m. in the Governor’s Office.

The memorandum officially recognizes the validity of Idaho and Korean drivers licenses and dispenses with the need for a road skill test to exchange licenses.

“Korea is one of Idaho’s top trading partners,” said Governor Otter. “This agreement is another step in making it easier for Idahoans and Koreans to trade and invest with one another."

Korea is Idaho’s fifth-largest export market. In 2011, Idaho exported more than $531 million in goods to Korea, a nearly 6-percent increase from 2010.
