Road closure, detour south of Wendell on Monday for culvert repair

WENDELL – Repairs to an irrigation culvert under Idaho 46 will require a road closure and traffic detour south of Wendell Monday (April 2), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will be cutting the roadway to repair and replace portions of a culvert and completing shoulder flattening about two miles south of Interstate 84. The current crossing is a narrow structure that presents a safety hazard to traffic.

Traffic is expected to be detoured between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Southbound traffic will be detoured west on 3100 South to 1900 East before returning on 3200 South. Northbound traffic will be detoured east on 3200 South, north on 2000 East and return on 3100 North. Drivers are reminded to use caution on the detour routes and obey all local speed limits.

With the completion of Monday’s operation, the roadway will have a gravel surface at the site of the roadway cut until it can be patched with an asphalt mix. Drivers are asked to use caution on the surface until repaired.
