Idaho 21 resurfacing from Mores Creek Summit to Clear Creek Bridge slated to begin this summer
BOISE COUNTY - A 20-mile section of Idaho 21 from Mores Creek Summit to Clear Creek Bridge, east of Lowman, is slated to begin this summer and finish in the summer or fall of 2013. The work will extend the life of the road and improve drivers' traction.
A SAFLEA (Stress-Absorbing Fiberglass Layer with Emulsified Asphalt) resurfacing method will be used, along with slope stabilization and upgrading existing guardrail, from milepost 52.3 to milepost 72.7 on the two-lane road. SAFLEA is a seal coat with a coating of chopped glass fibers between the oil and the aggregates to enhance durability and to reduce cracking.
Work required prior to the SAFLEA resurfacing includes building drain trenches, pipe cleaning and replacement and the installation of retaining walls.
