Portions of U.S. 93 and U.S. 30 to be closed Saturday for funeral procession of Jerome's Sgt. Brown
TWIN FALLS – Area drivers are asked to find alternate routes through Twin Falls to avoid a funeral procession for U.S. Army Sgt. Daniel Brown of Jerome Saturday afternoon and evening (April 7). To allow for the procession, portions of Blue Lakes Boulevard (U.S. 93) and Kimberly Road (U.S. 30) will be closed for up to two hours at each location.
The funeral for Brown – a 27-year-old soldier who died March 24 while serving in Afghanistan – is expected to begin at about 3 p.m. at the College of Southern Idaho gymnasium. Following the service, the funeral procession will travel east across Blue Lakes Boulevard. All north- and southbound traffic will be stopped for procession traffic. This closure is expected to begin at about 5 p.m.
The procession will follow city streets to Eastland Avenue and Kimberly Road before ending at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Kimberly Road will be closed between Eastland Avenue and the cemetery entrance beginning at about 5:30 p.m., or as the procession arrives, and will be closed for up to two hours.
Twin Falls Police will close Falls Avenue between Washington Street and Locust Street as well as other city streets during the procession.
To reduce traffic congestion at both closures, drivers are asked to find alternate routes through and around Twin Falls during the hours of the procession.
